Udit is an Associate Lecturer in Medical Sciences at the University of Lancashire. Udit is a materials researcher specialising in functional materials for optoelectronic applications, with a particular focus on the stability and degradation of halide perovskite thin films. His expertise includes advanced electron spectroscopy techniques for surface and interface characterisation, and he is especially interested in strategies to enhance thermal and moisture stability. Udit’s interests extend to ionic liquid-modified surfaces, catalytic interfaces, and advanced materials for sustainable energy technologies. He enjoys organising outreach activities for students and the wider public.

Udit joined the University of Lancashire in 2020 as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD Fellow, before taking up his current role as Associate Lecturer in Medical Sciences in 2025. He leads and contributes to modules across the medical sciences curriculum and supervises student projects. As a Year-group tutor and mentor, he promotes student engagement and provides a first point of contact for academic and personal support, helping students progress into higher education and research careers.
Udit was awarded a PhD in Physics by the University of Lancashire in 2024. His doctoral research combined materials synthesis, thin-film fabrication and synchrotron-based surface analysis to uncover fundamental degradation mechanisms in perovskite thin films for optoelectronic devices. He conducted experiments at international facilities including ASTRID-2 (Denmark) and the Henry Royce Institute (UK). Prior to this, Udit earned an MSc in Chemistry and a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry at Dayalbagh Educational Institute, India, where he also completed specialist training in cell biotechnology.
Alongside his research and teaching, Udit is passionate about widening participation and science communication, and he has organised student-focused events such as awards ceremonies and science-themed activities.
Udit is a member of the Institute of Physics and the Energy Institute. He has presented his research at conferences and seminars in the UK and internationally, and continues to collaborate on projects at the intersection of materials chemistry, surface science and sustainable technologies.
