Dr David Jarratt is based in The Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise at the University of Central Lancashire, where he lectures in Tourism and Event Management. He teaches at all levels, undergraduate and postgraduate, and is a course leader. He has published on the visitor experience and sense of place as they relate to tourism and leisure. He also has an interest in heritage tourism; before entering academia David worked in this sector and in particular heritage tourist attraction management and event management. He has also been involved in delivering training for the travel and tourism industry.
