Dr Máirtín Ó Catháin, Senior Lecturer in Modern Irish History, joined UCLan in 2007 from the University of Ulster at Magee where he completed his PhD in 2001 on the Fenian movement in Scotland. Since then he has continued to publish in aspects of Irish nationalist and labour history, the Irish in Scotland and the diaspora and oral history. He is currently working on a monograph study of obituaries in the Irish diaspora press.
