Abstract

An increase in the United Kingdom’s population has caused a housing crisis, and as a result, more and more people are becoming homeless and shelters across the country are at their peak of usage. To address this issue, the UK government stated that they will provide support for quality affordable housing. In order to meet this demand, it is suggested that the UK make use of off-site modular construction, which has grown in popularity over the past several years in the construction industry.
The study used a quantitative questionnaire methodology, carried out with professionals working within the construction industry to ascertain whether off-site modular construction techniques can help to speed up building quality affordable homes in the United Kingdom and also help the government to reach its target and also to identify the level of success of off-Site modular construction in delivering quality affordable housing in the United Kingdom. The findings will be tested to indicate if the study aims and objectives are met.
To conclude the finding suggest that off-site modular construction has a number of pros and cons. The use of modern methods techniques could help the government to solve the problem of using off-site modular construction, however it suggest that time can be saved when using off-site modular construction and also provide great efficiency using modern methods of techniques.
