Abstract

Infrastructure is one of the most important development that any country can ever invest in. it is through infrastructure that economies of the world’s biggest countries have managed to break out of poverty level due to increase in business activities as a result of availability of market for the products that are developed in the country. However, construction industry is facing numerous challenges that are brought about by lack of enough construction materials that will aid in the completion of various projects in the country. This is likely to reduce the speed in which a country develops and as a result create losses. This dissertation investigates the effects that are caused by the shortage of construction material in Oman.
The paper has been divided into various chapters where it introduces the topic and the methods used to collect information, the overview of Omani construction industry, the contribution of construction industry to the economy of Oman and the effects of shortages of materials used for construction. The paper will finally give solutions to the effects caused by the shortage of these materials.
