Abstract

This article submitted to Educational Developments (SEDA) reports on the use of dialogue as an assessment mechanims for professional learning. The article outlines how dialogue has been used across a range of initial professional development and continuing professional development programmes targeting HE academics. It examines the theoretical underpinnings for the use of dialogue in this context, provides evidence on its impact when used with students, and then explores a broader application for professional dialogue beyond accredited programmes.
