Abstract
"Abstract of a dissertation entitled ‘A Critical Review into the Effect of Stakeholder Management on the Success of a Construction Project’ submitted by Christian James Holt for BSc.(Hons.) in Building Surveying at the University of Central Lancashire in April 2016. The aim of this dissertation is to review the effect of stakeholder management on the success of a construction project, and determine stakeholders’ perception of critical success factors. Stakeholder management is generating significant recognition in recent years by scholars and industry as being an important factor in the delivery of construction projects.
The study is organised into five chapters;
Chapter 1 – The Introduction will provide a general overview of the subject of the dissertation and highlight the aims and objectives.
Chapter 2 – The Literature Review will explore the information presently available on the subject matter and includes relevant aspects to compare and discuss.
Chapter 3 – Methodology and Research involves selecting the correct method of research and critically appraising it to explain its relevancy.
Chapter 4 – The Investigation will focus on the outcome of the study to provide and compare the results.
Chapter 5 – The Conclusion will summarise the findings from the study and also provide recommendations.
The dissertation considers current literature available specific to stakeholder management, and looks to establish the background and methods with which to implement the topic. A questionnaire survey is then used to assess practitioners’ opinions on a recent study’s compilation and ranking of fifteen critical success factors specific to stakeholder management, with comparisons and differences evaluated in detail. Finally, a series of three case studies is carried out with which to assess the importance of stakeholder management in the outcome of construction projects, and whether the recent trend in stakeholder management is justified."
