Abstract

This dissertation is concerned with the arising introduction and future plans to develop Building Information Modelling (BIM) and how this will affect the modern day Quantity Surveyor in their working practice within the construction industry.
A critical review of the associated literature in this area has been constructed in several parts in order to maximally achieve the objectives set for this BIM research study.
The research is then further developed by the use of a data collection and analysis exercise by the use of my research methodology whereby a questionnaire survey was conducted as qualitative research and completed by a number of professional surveyors.
An overview of the longstanding problems that currently occur within the construction industry is provided with an explanation of the Government’s strategy to overcome some of these problems through the use of BIM software.
