Abstract

The issues surrounding delays and cost overruns in the construction industry are a growing concern. This dissertation aims identity and assess the leading factors for the delays and cost overrun in the North-West of England and identify the potential impacts caused by delays in a construction project. The methodology chosen to carry out the research for this dissertation consisted quantitative approach, including a questionnaire survey section one included the generic questions, sections one and two asked questions relating to the aims of the dissertation. The data collected from the questionnaire survey was then inputted into SPSS for data analysis. The main finding from the data collected identified the leading causes of delays in the North-West of England, also agreed delays can lead to cost overruns, disputes, arbitration and litigation.
