Abstract

In this research work electrical safety particularly the safety of workers from the risk of electrocution sites are investigated in the sultanate of Oman. For the purpose of the study primary data was collected from the firms involved in civil construction sector. The result of the study reveal that health and safety measure in relation to the electrical safety at construction sites are neither strictly enforced by the government agency nor the companies in the sultanate provide any training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
In addition, the study reveal that organisations involved in construction does not regularly check and supervise their electrical wiring and equipment at the sites due to which around 22% organizations have experienced either electrocution or electrical accidents leading to injuries and fatalities among the workers.
In conclusion, the study has recommend that the government of Oman revisit the country health and safety code and enact strict laws for safety of workers from electric shocks.
