Sustaining UK Animation

Abstract

Sarah Ann Kennedy Parr was invited to talk at the Children's Media Conference, Sheffield in 2018. The topic was how to sustain UK animation in today's climate as UK animation companies face many uncertainties including loss of EU funding, and possible reduced access to international talent. Will the UK animation education system be able to compete against better funded EU animation courses to reduce this gap. This panel will look at the sustainability of the industry for the next 2-15 years from funding, skills, education and training perspectives, plus we discuss how some businesses are adapting to change – with positive results.
