Abstract

I would like to thank Dr. Colin Moffat for his assistance with identification of the species
sampled in this research project and the support and time he has given to the completion of the
work.
My sincere thanks go to Dr. Kevin Butt for his assistance and patience as my academic advisor
and for his belief in my being able to complete this research project and my degree. And to
Chris Lowe for his help over the past year.
I would also like to thank Jim Longbottom head ranger at Cuerden Park for his help in
identifying suitable areas for study and allowing me to access an area not usually available to the
public was invaluable.
My thanks also go to my friend Claire Mashiter for her belief in me and valuable brain storming
