Submission Guidelines

Author Guidelines

[Include direction and information relating to the content and nature of the material welcomed for publication in this journal, not already covered below. Also include stylistic and bibliographic requirements.]

Submission Procedure

  1. All submissions should be sent by email attachment in MS Word format to the editor [name and contact].
  2. The first page of the article should provide the title, name(s) and full contact address(es) of the author(s), including contact email address(es). A clear word count should also be indicated on the first page. The rest of the article should contain no reference to the author(s). Please provide a list of 5-10 keywords that reflect the focus of your paper.
  3. Images/figures/tables should not be embedded in the paper; however, their location should be clearly indicated in the main body of the paper e.g., [Insert Table 1 here]. They should be provided as separate high resolution graphics at 600 dpi in TIFF format.
  4. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to secure written permission for the use of all images/figures/tables to be used in their paper. Written confirmation should be forwarded to the co-editors with your submission.
  5. Authors should note that the editors reserve the right to improve the readability of an article if necessary.

Peer Review Process

  1. All submissions are first screened by the editors to confirm that they adhere to the aims and scope of the journal.
  2. Following successful screening by the editors all submissions will be submitted for double blind peer review using anonymous reviewers drawn from the editorial review board of the journal. This process can take up to two months to be completed.
  3. Following peer review all authors will be notified of the decision of the reviewers and a copy of their comments will be returned to the authors. Papers are evaluated according to the following scale: accept without revisions; minor revisions recommended; major revisions recommended; and reject.

To ensure the integrity of the blind peer-review for submission to this journal, every effort should be made to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other. This involves the authors, editors, and reviewers (who upload documents as part of their review) checking to see if the following steps have been taken with regard to the text and the file properties:

  1. The authors of the document have deleted their names from the text, with "Author" and year used in the references and footnotes, instead of the authors' name, article title, etc.
  2. With Microsoft Office documents, author identification should also be removed from the properties for the file (see under File in Word), by clicking on the following, beginning with File on the main menu of the Microsoft application: File > Save As > Tools (or Options with a Mac) > Security > Remove personal information from file properties on save > Save.
  3. With PDFs, the authors' names should also be removed from Document Properties found under File on Adobe Acrobat's main menu.

Submission preparation checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or a compatable document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs and DOIs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines (above).
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions to ensure the integrity of a blind review (above) have been followed.
