Accessibility statement for The University of Central Lancashire Archives

This accessibility statement applies to https://clok.uclan.ac.uk/archives/

This website is run by the University of Central Lancashire. It is built using the Eprints open source software package and is hosted by E-Prints Southampton.

How accessible this website is

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and will be working on this. A guide for staff uploading accessible manuscripts to CLoK can be found here

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The University of Central Lancashire is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

We test the accessibility across our website on a regular basis against WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Compliance status is website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Some Sections of the University Archives may not work for everyone. Below are known issues that we have identified. We will be working towards resolving them. Some may be dependent upon the E-Prints platform and need to be resolved by this external third party.

As the website is an open access archival resource, the principal content made available to users are research resources many of which are PDF documents. Many PDF documents, especially older ones, are not fully accessible to screen reader software and do not contain other common accessibility features. The majority of the historic material has been scanned and uploaded and therefore is of a format that cannot be made accessible enabled.

Disproportionate burden

It would be a disproportionate burden to retrospectively check and amend all the content on this repository into an accessible format. Researchers/users that wish to request accessible versions should contact clok@uclan.ac.uk

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We will continue to review the accessibility of our website using automated tools and manual testing procedures where necessary.
